Common questions

What can I put out for Gold Coast Council kerbside pickup?

Gold Coast Council's annual kerbside service accepts general household items like furniture, mattresses, white goods (with the gas removed) and small metal items. It does not accept building waste, tyres, paint, chemicals, e-waste, glass, soil or green waste. Volume is capped at roughly 2 cubic metres per property per year.

How long does Gold Coast Council kerbside pickup take?

You need to book in advance through the council. Wait times vary across the year but are typically 4–12 weeks from booking to collection. Each property gets one scheduled collection per year and missing the window means waiting until the next one.

What if I miss my council pickup window?

If your scheduled day passes or you miss your annual allowance, you'll need to either wait until next year, take items to the tipping facility yourself, or book a private junk removal. Items left on the kerb outside the booked window can attract fines from council.

Is junk removal worth paying for if council is free?

Council is genuinely a great option for small, eligible household items if you're not in a hurry. We exist for jobs council can't or won't do — same-day pickups, big loads, real estate deadlines, building waste, e-waste, tenant clearouts, and anything beyond the 2m³ annual cap.
